This year is an exciting time for Youth Ministry across the Archdiocese. After a great pilgrimage to World Youth Day, we are looking forward to continuing to support the implementation ofYouth Ministry programs in schools, Church and ecclesial communities as well as the development of Youth Ministers across the Archdiocese.
I would like to invite yourself and any other leaders from across your community to three upcoming events.
1.One: Archdiocesan Youth Cultural Festival and Youth Mass
On the Sunday, 3rd March, the Archdiocese will be holding an Archdiocesan Youth Cultural Festival and Youth Mass. This will be hosted at the St Christopher¡¯s Pastoral Centre and Cathedral from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. The Festival and Mass will include key national and international leaders, including CardinalSoane Mafi from Tonga and key leaders from Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands, New Zealand, England and Uganda.
The Youth Festival and Youth Mass seeks to bring the young Church of the Archdiocese together to celebrate our faith. All Parishioners are welcome to attend.
2.Youth Leaders Network
This year, we are launching the Youth Leaders Network. The network gathers youth leaders from schools, Parishes and ecclesial communities. The network seeks to support the development of local Youth Ministry across those communities. This includes attending the Youth Ministry EquippingSchool conducted in the Archdiocese from the 28th February to 3rd March (finishing with commissioning at the Archdiocesan Youth Mass).
This is an unique opportunity to identify any current or future leaders in Youth and Young Adults Ministry in your Parish communities. Establishing a bigger Youth Leaders Network in additionto the work of the Youth Ministers will be an important step in growing the Youth Ministry model across the Archdiocese.
3.24 Hours of Adoration
The Archdiocese will be hosting 24 Hours of Adoration to pray for the year ahead, in particular, the Youth Ministry in our schools and Parishes. If you are within Canberra, can you encourage your Parishioners to be involved in the time of prayer and intercession at St Christopher¡¯sCathedral on the 20th to 21st February (details attached). If you are outside of Canberra, we can provide the resources used (including the reflection booklets and tailored promotional materials) to support your Parish community to joinin with the time of Adoration.
