Vinnies supporting Tathra bushfire victims
The fire raging through Tathra destroying at least 70 homes and buildings is devastating. But there has been a great response from the public to support the Tathra community.
“Vinnies is doing everything we can to support people affected by the Tathra bushfire”, said Warwick Fulton, President of the St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn.
St Vincent de Paul’s Bega volunteer members have supported the Evacuation Centre at the Bega Showground and local Vinnies stores have donated essential items including clothes and bedding.
“We are appealing for donations of non-perishable food items such as long-life milk, tinned foods, pasta, rice and cereals for those affected by the Tathra bushfires”, continued Mr Fulton. People in and around the Bega and Merimbula area can drop off donations to either the Vinnies Bega or Merimbula stores located at:

Canberrans and others who want to help, but may live too far from Bega or Merimbula can make financial donations in support of everyone affected by the Tathra bushfire via the Vinnies website.
Please visit www.vinnies.org.au/donate and select ACT from the drop down menu. Also, all donations received in any Vinnies store in the Canberra/Goulburn Archdiocese will go towards the Tathra bushfire victims, at this time.
We have received a large number of phone calls from neighbouring towns right through to Canberra asking how they can help and we would like to thank everyone for caring and your support.
